Insert a Unicode Vertical Orientation

A Unicode vertical orientation is on of the many Unicode properties that you can insert via the Insert Token button on the Create panel.

Every Unicode code point has exactly one value for the Vertical_Orientation property. This property is used in Unicode Standard Annex 50 (UAX 50) titled “Unicode Vertical Text Layout” which deals with character orientation when East Asian text is printed vertically. The property has 4 possible values. Each value is represented by one or two letters but also has a more descriptive alias. Tick “long vertical orientation aliases” if you prefer your regex to use those.

• R or Rotated: The character should be rotated 90 degrees clockwise.
• U or Upright: The character should be displayed upright.
• Tr or Transformed_Rotated: The character should be replaced with another character that is more appropriate for vertical text. If the application can’t make such a substitution then it can display the same character rotated 90 degrees clockwise.
• Tu or Transformed_Upright: The character should be replaced with another character that is more appropriate for vertical text. If the application can’t make such a substitution then it can display the same character upright.
